Internationally renowned for his expertise in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine, Peter R. Kurzweil, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon providing the highest quality care at Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group in Long Beach, California.

Dr. Kurzweil attended Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he graduated with summa cum laude honors. After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Kurzweil attended the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He then completed an orthopaedic residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.

After completing the prestigious sports medicine fellowship at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, Dr. Kurzweil joined Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group. As a former athlete, Dr. Kurzweil takes a compassionate approach to treating patients with athletic injuries, emphasizing patient education. He also specializes in knee and shoulder injuries.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Kurzweil has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center as well as team physician for Long Beach State University. He is also a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review.

When he’s not busy in the field of orthopaedic medicine, Dr. Kurzweil spends much of his time on the tennis court. He is also an avid skier and likes to stay active in the gym.
