About Dr. Pahl

Native to southern California, Michael A. Pahl, MD, has spent his career treating a wide range of complex shoulder and sports injuries. As a member of Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group in Long Beach, California, Dr. Pahl uses his expertise to diagnose, manage, and treat orthopaedic conditions.

Dr. Pahl received his undergraduate education from Chapman University in Orange, California, where he graduated with honors. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Pahl attended a research fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia where he also completed a residency in orthopaedic Surgery. While completing his residency, Dr. Pahl was made chief resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. Pahl has spent much of his career working with sports teams and athletes. He has worked with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball, and the World Surfing League. He currently serves as team physician for Long Beach State University Athletics.

Dr. Pahl is the current chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and is a faculty member for the Long Beach Memorial Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship where he’s an instructor on the diagnosis and non-operative management of sports medicine injuries. For patients who require an operation, Dr. Pahl is affiliated with Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Surgery Center of Long Beach, and Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.

Outside the field of orthopaedics, Dr. Pahl spends much of his time participating in watersports. He enjoys surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, SCUBA diving, boating, and sailing.
